accessible
Art and Culture for All
In recent years, it has become evident that inclusive and accessible culture is not only a social responsibility but also an opportunity to enrich cultural life for everyone. In Maribor, accessibility to cultural and artistic content poses a key challenge, especially for visitors with various disabilities. These individuals often face physical barriers and a lack of clear information, making it difficult for them to fully enjoy the city’s rich cultural offerings. With the project "Maribor for All," we aim to provide equal access to the city's diverse cultural experiences and contribute to removing physical obstacles and improving visitor information. Inspired by successful European initiatives such as the ELEVATOR Project, which prioritizes accessibility in cultural policies across Europe, we hope to make Maribor’s cultural life more inclusive and welcoming for all.

Creative Concept and Iconography Adaptation
In the project’s initial phase, a strategy was developed that includes close collaboration with tourism providers to establish communication guidelines. A significant part of the creative process was the development of a new inclusivity concept, expressed through adapted iconography. In partnership with Visit Maribor and with endorsement from the Slovenian Disability Council, we designed a new set of icons that clearly indicate accessibility for various visitor groups (mobility-impaired, visually impaired, and hearing impaired). The centerpiece of this set is the new "Maribor for All" icon, symbolizing efforts toward accessible tourism.
Technical Upgrade and Communication
In addition to design solutions, we upgraded existing digital systems to enable more precise accessibility information for individual providers. We created an online questionnaire for tourism partners, collected responses, and integrated them into an online catalog. Additionally, we developed a module that provides detailed descriptions of accessibility for specific locations.
Presentation of Inclusive Tourism
The project is rounded off by a new landing page dedicated to inclusive tourism in arts and culture, where visitors can explore the accessibility options available in Maribor, supported by new iconography and detailed descriptions of offerings. With this project, the Maribor tourist destination reinforces its commitment to creating a welcoming and accessible environment for all visitors, regardless of their specific needs.
